Senior Legal Counsel (Financial Markets Regulatory) | 4-6 PQE | London
We're working with a major financial institution hiring a sharp regulatory lawyer to sit close to the decisions that matter.
You'll be the go-to regulatory lawyer for a significant markets-focused business line, advising senior stakeholders on complex UK and EU regulatory, conduct and reputational issues. You'll also get exposure to emerging areas such as digital assets, so this is a chance to work at the cutting edge of financial regulation.
The Role
- Act as the lead regulatory lawyer for a markets-focused business
- Provide UK and EU regulatory advice and turn it into practical guidance for the business
- Support the business on new and emerging product areas, including digital assets
- Advise on complex conduct and regulatory matters, identifying and escalating risk
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and transaction documentation
- Track regulatory developments and brief senior stakeholders on what they mean

About You
- Qualified lawyer (England & Wales or equivalent), 4-6 PQE
- Strong financial markets regulatory experience across UK/EU frameworks
- Confident handling complex, non-standard issues as a senior practitioner
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills with sound commercial judgement
- Comfortable managing a fast-paced workload across multiple stakeholders
- Clear communicator who can influence at a senior level
- Hands-on experience using legal generative AI tools is a plus
