Senior Legal Counsel, In-house Debt/Private Credit Investments (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

About AustralianSuper

AustralianSuper is the largest pension fund in Australia and one of the 20 largest pension funds globally. We are a responsible, long term asset owner committed to delivering strong retirement outcomes for members, with strong governance central to our approach.

Our London office plays a critical role in delivering our global investment strategy, and we're looking for an experienced Lawyer to join our Investments Legal team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support to our London-based private credit team. This role focuses on real estate debt, infrastructure debt and broader private credit investments across the UK and Europe.

Working closely with investment professionals and senior stakeholders, you will help ensure investments are effectively negotiated, documented and managed, while proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks. You will operate as a trusted business partner, supporting investment activity from origination through to ongoing asset management.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Advisory & Transaction Support

  • Lead legal workstreams for private credit investments, including real estate debt, infrastructure debt and corporate credit transactions.
  • Manage legal and related due diligence processes for prospective investments.
  • Advise on acquisition financing and related matters for real estate and infrastructure investments.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on existing investment portfolios and ongoing investment management activities.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of transaction and financing documents.

Risk Management & Governance

  • Identify, assess and escalate legal risks associated with investment activities.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external advisers to ensure legal risks are appropriately managed and mitigated.
  • Ensure investment documentation is accurate, complete and appropriately maintained.
  • Support the development and implementation of legal processes, controls, precedents and governance frameworks.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
