Senior Legal Counsel- Somerset/Bristol/Wiltshire/Glos/Dorset commute
About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior In‑House Commercial Lawyer to join this small and dynamic legal team.
This is a fantastic newly created position reporting directly to the Head of Legal.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in negotiating commercial contracts with a global customer base together with exposure to property‑related agreements, employment issues, disputes and governance and compliance.
Above all, we are looking for someone with a pragmatic commercial approach, who is willing and able to manage their own workload and work collaboratively as part of a team.
You will be pivotal in providing clear, practical advice, often in situations where no two days are the same.

- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts with customers, sales intermediaries, suppliers, service providers and other key business partners.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business objectives and provide proactive legal guidance.
- Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice to various business units and teams.
- Provide legal advice on leases, acquisitions and wider property management matters.
- Manage external legal counsel and business consultants advising on a range of issues including specialist matters such as intellectual property and, where required, trusts.
- Stay updated on legal developments and industry trends to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
- Conduct legal training for staff on relevant legal issues and company policies.
- Suggest solutions that resolve business issues in a commercially sensible way.

Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor/ILEX 3+ PQE with a valid practising certificate.
- Commercial Contracts expertise.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Open to backgrounds from Commercial/Commercial Litigation/Corporate.

2-3 days office presence required based near Bristol.
This role can either be full time or part time from 3- 5 days with the longer term expectation of 4/5 days.
