Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial & Technology
Our client is a leading UK multi-service business, delivering a range of essential consumer services through an innovative, partner-led model. Operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment, the business is constantly evolving, making this an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys variety, autonomy and working at pace. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Legal Counsel to step up to a Senior Legal Counsel.
This is a broad commercial role within a lean, highly collaborative legal team. You'll act as a trusted business partner across multiple functions, advising on a wide range of commercial matters and becoming involved in everything from strategic projects and technology agreements through to procurement, outsourcing and corporate initiatives.
This role is far more about the person than a niche area of expertise. The team is looking for someone who is naturally curious, commercially pragmatic and thrives in an environment where no two days are the same. If you're someone who enjoys getting stuck in, building relationships with stakeholders and figuring things out, you'll fit right in.
What you'll be doing
- Acting as a trusted legal advisor to a wide range of business stakeholders.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
- SaaS and software agreements
- Technology and IT contracts
- Outsourcing arrangements
- Procurement and supplier agreements
- Corporate travel and other strategic commercial contracts
- Supporting strategic business projects from inception through to implementation.
- Advising on general commercial legal issues across the business.
- Working alongside specialists, including the Data Protection Officer, with enough understanding of privacy and data protection to identify issues and know when to involve the relevant experts.
- Supporting corporate projects and wider business initiatives as they arise.
- Mentoring and supporting more junior lawyers within the legal team.

What we're looking for
- Around 5+ years' PQE gained in-house and/or private practice.
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts is essential.
- Experience advising on technology, SaaS and outsourcing agreements.
- Some exposure to corporate transactions or corporate legal work would be advantageous.
- A commercial mindset with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Someone who is comfortable working autonomously and enjoys taking ownership.
- The confidence to work through ambiguity and solve problems independently.
- A lawyer who is adaptable, inquisitive and willing to learn new areas of law as the business evolves.
- Experience mentoring or managing junior lawyers would be beneficial but is not essential.
