About the Role
We are partnering with a Challenger Bank and Fintech who is in growth mode. This business offers a range of lending, saving and other products to SME’s across the UK, and is in the early stages of expanding its client base internationally.
One of the bank’s specialisms is providing invoice financing services, and we are now looking for a lawyer who has experience in this area and will partly support this business line, but who will also work across all areas of the business from a legal perspective, which will encompass:
- Taking a key role on firm-wide commercial/corporate objectives, which may include IT matters (including the implementation of new software or AI), marketing/advertising, and M&A activity, for example;
- Advising on the development of new commercial banking products;
- Drafting and negotiating a broad scope of commercial contracts;
- Providing advice to the business on banking law and the associated regulatory environment.

This role is evidently very broad in scope, and sits in a team of 6 lawyers, who report to the General Counsel. No one in the team is ‘siloed’ into different workstreams, but rather, each lawyer works in a flat-structured, fairly non-hierarchical team on a wide range of legal issues affecting the business.
As a result, we are looking for lawyers who not only must have invoice finance experience, but who ideally sit in a current/recent legal in-house role with breadth and variety. We would be particularly interested to hear from lawyers hailing from other, relevant Fintechs, or organisations offering commercial banking products/services.
