SSQ is partnering with a FTSE 50 business to appoint a Legal Operations leader in London.
The organisation's legal function operates across multiple jurisdictions. Legal Operations is central to how it delivers value to the wider business. This role sits within the strategy, change and governance side of the team. You will be the most senior Legal Operations professional in London and act as deputy to the US-based Head of Legal Operations. Working closely together, you will help implement an operating model that allows the function to run efficiently and scale in response to growing demand and cost pressure.
The role will initially be an individual contributor position, with line management responsibility expected to follow as the team grows.

Key responsibilities
- Deputising for the Head of Legal Operations and representing Legal Ops to senior leadership in London
- Shaping team structure, capability and skill mix as the function develops
- Setting priorities, clarifying ownership and resolving gaps across roles
- Ensuring lawyers have the right tools, processes, vendors and data to work effectively
- Overseeing budget and spend reporting
- Leading significant projects and driving sustained process improvement
- Reducing manual work through automation and emerging technology, including AI

The role would suit someone with significant experience in legal operations or a closely related field, gained in-house or within a law firm. Applications are welcome from legal project managers, legal innovation and LegalTech Engineers, and billing or pricing managers with a strong interest in technology, AI and operations.
You will bring strong communication skills with senior leadership, a data-led approach to decision making and experience working across teams and time zones. Exposure to CLM, document management, drafting automation or legal AI platforms would be an advantage. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma or process mapping would also be valued.
