If you are an experienced Legal Project Manager who enjoys bringing clarity, structure and momentum to high-stakes legal matters, this is an opportunity to shape how our lawyers and clients work together.
At Burges Salmon, you will play a central role in evolving our approach to project delivery, mentoring others, and driving transformation across the firm.
Your Role
As a Senior Legal Project Manager, you will manage complex legal matters end-to-end while supporting the strategic development and direction of our Legal Project Management (LPM) team. You'll work closely with the Head of Legal Project Management and collaborate widely across departments, from Innovation and Technology to key partners and clients.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will combine strong project management expertise, leadership capability, legal understanding and a collaborative approach to support lawyers, clients and internal teams.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading complex matters throughout the full lifecycle, ensuring exceptional delivery, resource planning and cost management.
- Providing leadership, mentoring and development support to Legal Project Managers.
- Supporting the LPM Manager with strategic planning, service positioning and departmental growth.
- Embedding continuous improvement and championing best practice in matter delivery.
- Working with Innovation and Legal Technology teams to integrate tools that enhance transparency, efficiency and client experience.
- Contributing to pitch materials and representing the LPM function in client-facing discussions.
- Acting as a trusted adviser to lawyers and stakeholders on LPM methodologies, tools and reporting.
- Mitigating risks and maintaining clear, consistent communication across teams.
- Supporting the growth and visibility of LPM across new departments.
- Developing training to upskill lawyers in structured, effective matter management.

What We're Looking For
- Significant experience as a senior legal project manager supporting partners, clients and matter teams.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capability.
- Deep understanding of legal processes, law firm operations and matter delivery.
- Strong awareness of emerging legal tech and the ability to embed tools effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and simplify complexity.
- Highly developed problem-solving, prioritisation and client-relationship skills.
- Commercial awareness and a commitment to outstanding client service.
