Fenris Creations Job Opportunity
Fenris Creations are seeking a Senior Lighting Artist to help shape the visual identity, atmosphere, and moment-to-moment impact of EVE: Vanguard, an exciting first-person shooter set in the EVE Universe.
As a Senior Lighting Artist, you will create high-quality lighting and real-time visual effects that bring Vanguard’s worlds, combat spaces, weapons, and environments to life.
This role requires strong ownership, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to influence both creative and technical decisions. You will proactively collaborate with Art, Design, TA, Gameplay and Rendering to ensure lighting and VFX not only look exceptional, but also remain readable, responsive, and optimized for target hardware. If you are passionate about building immersive worlds, delivering impactful combat feedback, and setting a high bar for visual quality in a modern shooter, this is an opportunity to define and own a critical part of the player experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality, production-ready lighting for FPS levels in Unreal Engine 5.
- Define and implement lighting strategies that support navigation, player focus, enemy visibility, and moment-to-moment combat readability.
- Work with Lumen, reflections, shadows, exposure, fog, post-processing, and colour grading.
- Optimize lighting for target hardware while maintaining visual quality.
- Profile and improve performance related to GPU cost, shadows, Lumen, translucency, post-processing, and volumetrics.
- Collaborate with level designers to ensure lighting supports gameplay flow.
- Partner with Environment Art to elevate scene composition, material response, emissive usage, and lighting integration.
- Debug lighting issues such as artifacts, exposure problems, reflection issues, overdraw, and performance bottlenecks.
- Create reusable lighting setups, guidelines, and best practices.
- Take part in reviews, playtests, polish passes, and performance passes.
- Lead by example in reviews, playtests, polish passes, and performance passes, providing clear and actionable feedback.
- Mentor and support other artists, contributing to team growth and raising overall craft quality.
- Act as a key stakeholder in cross-discipline discussions, influencing decisions that impact visual direction and player experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
