💡 WE’RE HIRING – SENIOR LIGHTING DESIGNER
đź“Ť Manchester City Centre | Full Time | Studio Based
We’re looking for a seriously good Senior Lighting Designer to join us at UREKA Light in our Manchester city centre studio.
But we’re not looking for someone who just wants to sit behind a screen producing lighting calculations all day.
We want someone who gets light.
Someone creative, technically strong and genuinely excited about taking a space and making it look incredible.
THE ROLE
You’ll become a key part of the UREKA team, taking projects from the first conversation and initial concept right through to technical design, specification and completion.
One day you might be working on a hospitality project, the next an office, residential development or something completely different.
You’ll be involved in:
- Creating lighting concepts and schemes
- Producing lighting calculations and technical designs
- Luminaire selection and specification
- Producing drawings, layouts, schedules and presentations
- Developing lighting control strategies
- Working alongside architects, interior designers, consultants and contractors
- Presenting your ideas directly to clients
- Attending design meetings and site visits
- Seeing projects through from concept to completion
- Helping develop the design standards and creative direction of UREKA

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You’ll already have solid experience in architectural or commercial lighting design and be confident handling your own projects.
We’d expect you to have good working knowledge of software such as DIALux / DIALux evo and AutoCAD, alongside the usual design and presentation tools.
Knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, lighting controls or visualisation software would definitely get our attention too.
But software isn’t everything.
We’re much more interested in finding someone who has a great eye for lighting, understands the technical side and can communicate ideas without disappearing into lighting jargon.
You need to be comfortable talking to clients and designers, solving problems and occasionally challenging an idea when you know there’s a better solution.
