Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

About The Role
Our team maintain and develop a big data platform for a UK critical national infrastructure customer. The platform supports a suite of cutting-edge cybersecurity and data science tools. The team uses DevOps methodology to deliver continuous improvements that ensure the platform meets rapidly changing security requirements.
This job role is based near Reading. Office requirement: Week 1 is fully on-site (Monday–Friday) followed by Week 2 with on-site working Monday to Thursday and remote working on Friday. Mon-Fri 37.5. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Administer, maintain, and improve Linux server environments across production and development platforms.
- Support and manage VMware vSphere environments, including virtual machines, resource allocation, and host configuration.
- Develop and maintain automation solutions, preferably using Ansible, to streamline deployments, configuration, and routine tasks.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to OS, networking, performance, and storage.
- Support interoperability with Windows Server systems where required.

- Strong experience with Linux administration (RHEL, Rocky or similar).
- Solid understanding networking, storage and permissions.
- Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi administration.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible or similar automation tools.
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash).
