If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Liquidity Risk Manager.
This Senior Liquidity Risk Manager role is a high-visibility 2nd line of defence (2LOD) opportunity in HSBC UK Treasury Risk, giving you real influence over how the ring-fenced bank manages liquidity and funding resilience against both day-to-day demands and stress events. You’ll provide independent oversight and credible challenge across the liquidity risk framework—risk appetite, stress testing, forecasting and regulatory reporting—working closely with Treasury, Finance and wider stakeholders to strengthen governance, controls and regulatory compliance. It’s a chance to shape best practice, anticipate emerging risks, and help protect customers and the franchise by ensuring the bank can meet its obligations through different market conditions, while building strong senior stakeholder exposure and a clear platform for broader Treasury/ALM and leadership progression.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
