Job Opportunity for Specialty Registrar in Adult Cardiology

This is an exciting opportunity for doctors at Specialty Registrar level in adult cardiology to undertake 12–24 months of training within a developing regional cardiac amyloid and heart muscle disease service. The fellowship offers comprehensive experience in the diagnosis and management of cardiac amyloidosis, alongside exposure to a high-volume heart muscle disease programme including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiac sarcoidosis, myocarditis, and rare cardiomyopathies.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in specialist cardiac amyloid and heart muscle disease outpatient clinics.
  • Undertake the assessment, investigation, and management of patients with suspected and confirmed cardiac amyloidosis under consultant supervision.
  • Coordinate and present cases at the cardiac amyloid and heart muscle disease multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of a newly established regional cardiac amyloid service.

Training and Development

  • Training includes dedicated sessions in advanced cardiac imaging, with opportunities for progression in cardiac MRI, CT, and advanced echocardiography.
  • Participation in multidisciplinary meetings, research, and service development initiatives.
  • Protected research time to undertake quality improvement projects, establish and maintain an amyloid patient registry, participate in retrospective research, and contribute to publications and presentations.
  • Opportunities to support service redesign and develop innovative pathways for the diagnosis and management of cardiac amyloidosis across Greater Manchester.
