Location: Aylesbury

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours Mon-Fri

This will be a hybrid role working 3 days in the office and 2 days at home

In this role you will oversee the day-to-day operation and performance of the logistics function, ensuring the effective routing, allocation, utilisation and maintenance of a designated vehicle portfolio. You will work closely with the Support Services Manager and the role will support the mobilisation of new services, monitor vehicle and operational performance, review and grade key performance indicators, and drive improvements in service delivery, efficiency, compliance and fleet availability.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the logistics function, managing operational escalations, vehicle breakdowns, service disruptions and route recovery arrangements to maintain service delivery.
  • Manage the effective routing, allocation and utilisation of the vehicle portfolio, ensuring available resources are deployed efficiently and in line with operational requirements.
  • Monitor vehicle availability, condition and maintenance requirements, working closely with relevant depot, fleet and workshop teams to minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Work closely with the Support Services Manager to plan and deliver new service mobilisations, ensuring that vehicle, driver, routing and operational requirements are identified and implemented effectively.
  • Support the training, coaching and development of employees where applicable, promoting consistent processes, operational standards and best practice across the business.
  • Ensure that financial, compliance and health and safety considerations are incorporated into route planning, vehicle allocation and operational decision-making.

Essential criteria for this role:

  • Experience with route planning software such as Route Monkey, DPS (LogiX) etc
  • Experience as a Logistics Planner/Senior Planner in a large matrix organisation
  • Demonstrable experience of successful resource management / cost control
  • Transport legislation
  • Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation environment
