About the Team

Our National Security and AI Safety business unit is focused on advancing the responsible development and deployment of AI to support national security and global stability. From strengthening critical mission capabilities in national security and intelligence to collaborating with cutting-edge labs for advanced AI safety red teaming and evaluation, we operate at the forefront of high-stakes, high-impact missions.

About the Role

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will lead the development and deployment of state-of-the-art AI systems across various clients. Your responsibility will encompass designing, building, and deploying scalable, production-grade ML software and infrastructure that adheres to rigorous operational and ethical standards.

This dynamic, cross-functional role requires expertise in technical leadership, engineering, and confident client-facing communication.


Responsibilities

  • Leading technical scoping and architectural decisions for high-impact ML systems
  • Designing and building production-grade ML software, tools, and scalable infrastructure
  • Defining and implementing best practices and standards for deploying machine learning at scale across the business
  • Collaborating with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and commercial teams to tackle critical client challenges and seize opportunities
  • Acting as a trusted technical advisor to customers and partners, translating complex concepts into actionable strategies
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering the team’s engineering culture and technical expertise

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of the full ML lifecycle and extensive experience operationalising models built with frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Demonstratable expertise in software engineering, notamment strong Python skills, with a focus on building robust, reusable systems
  • Stereotypical experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including architecture, security, and infrastructure
  • Significant hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration tools, such as Docker & Kubernetes, for managing applications at scale
  • Thriving in fast-paced, high-growth settings, with a track record of owning projects from start to finish
  • Outstanding communication skills for successfully guiding both technical teams and senior, non-technical stakeholders
