Role Overview

The Machine Learning Recall team builds and optimizes ML/DL models to improve customer experience by maximizing:

  • Relevancy (aesthetic effectiveness)
  • Marginality (business impact)

2025 Focus Areas

  • Recall Optimization: Prevent losing high-value results
  • Visual Solutions: End-to-end visual AI (e.g., image search, "shop the look," visual recommendations)
  • Technical Platform: Standardize internal models to be widely adopted across teams

Key Challenges

  • Build and deploy scalable ML systems (including multimodal models like text+image)
  • Tune LLMs to enhance system capabilities beyond current applications
  • Drive business KPI improvements via data-driven hypotheses
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to exchange best practices
  • Own end-to-end responsibility for team deliverables

Requirements

Must-Have

✅ 3+ years in applied machine learning ✅ Expertise in NLP (especially transformer-based approaches) ✅ Strong foundation in classical machine learning ✅ Advanced Python proficiency ✅ Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch emphasis) ✅ SQL knowledge (we use SparkSQL & MySQL) ✅ Production ML deployment experience ✅ Proficiency in big data tools (e.g., PySpark for E2E pipelines) ✅ Ability to translate intuition into data-driven solutions with measurable business value ✅ Proactive problem-solving mindset ✅ Collaborative and helpful attitude toward teammates

Nice-to-Have

🔹 A/B testing design, execution, and analysis 🔹 Rust/C/C++ development experience 🔹 Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) 🔹 Deep knowledge of data structures/algorithms and trade-offs 🔹 Empathy (bridging complex concepts for >engineering teams) 🔹 Passion for performance optimization (result quality + code efficiency)
