Job Title: Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Outfits Discovery Team)

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer specialising in deep learning to join our cross-functional Outfits Discovery team. In this role, you’ll:

  • Produce high-impact, production-grade machine learning systems that help our customers discover and shop complete outfits tailored to both their personal style and current trends.
  • Elevate the fashion experience by shipping advanced ML capabilities delivered at massive scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as senior IC in building and scaling our causal algorithms for pricing and customer targeting.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to implement and deploy at-scale solutions for millions of customers/products, driving measurable business value.
  • Deploy batch and online machine learning models at high performance and low latency in production environments.
  • Continuously develop, refine, and innovate our code and technology, proposing and leading the creation of cutting-edge ML features.
  • Mentor junior team members, guiding their technical growth and improving the wider ML engineering workflow.
  • Shape the team’s technical direction, establish best practices, and enhance ASOS’s ML standards, while sharing expertise across the organisation.

Qualifications & Requirements

About You You bring:

  • Professional experience in machine learning, with a speciality in deep learning and its production implementation.
  • Expertise in deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX, etc.) and distributed computing frameworks for large-scale deep learning (Horovod, Spark, Ray, etc.).
  • Proficiency in scaling training workloads, with hands-on experience in multi-GPU or multi-node clusters (TF Records, data and model parallelism).
  • Strong grasp of ML Ops practices (CI/CD for ML pipelines, containerisation, prompt debugging, model versioning, and observability—e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow).
  • Experience mentoring 1–2 junior engineers while contributing to wider technical initiatives.
