Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Apply to Join the Outfits Discovery Team

About the Role: We’re seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in deep learning to contribute to our Outfits Discovery team, which enhances customer experiences by helping users discover and shop stylish outfit combinations tailored to their individual preferences while reflecting current trends.

As a senior individual contributor (IC), you’ll focus on productionising machine learning systems to refine pricing and customer targeting strategies at planetary scale. Your goal: elevate the fashion experience by delivering impactful ML solutions.

Responsibilities

Oversee a cross-disciplinary, agile team focused on:

  • Designing, building, and refining causal algorithms for pricing and customer targeting across billions of items.
  • Collaborating with data scientists to deploy at-scale machine learning solutions, achieving measurable business impact.
  • Deploying batch and online ML models reliably while managing vast customer and product datasets.
  • Continuously improving code and infrastructure, driving new features with technical leadership.
  • Guiding junior engineers and fostering their growth, ensuring technical excellence.
  • Shaping ML standards, quality benchmarks, and each team's technical direction while contributing to ASOS’s broader ML research community.

Requirements

About You:

  • Extensive professional experience in ML, with deep deep learning expertise in her래 is as an engineer and practitioner.
  • Mastery of deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Horovod).
  • Ability to design, configure, and scale large distributed systems (cluster orchestration, GPU parallelism/data parallelism) to train models efficiently.
  • Deep understanding of hierarchical SRE. Lifecycle and EML practices, focusing on ML Ops principles—datapipelines, CI/CD, containerization, observability.
  • Energetic technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching for one or two junior engineers, aligned with broader engineering initiatives at ASOS.
