Role Overview
The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day maintenance administration and logistical activities that support the reliability, repair and operational readiness of NEP UK's broadcast equipment, including OB trucks, flypacks and associated production systems.
Working closely with the Head of Maintenance, the role acts as the central coordination point for equipment entering and leaving the maintenance process. This includes managing repair workflows, booking equipment into and out of maintenance, coordinating external repairs, maintaining accurate asset records, ordering parts and consumables, and ensuring maintenance data is complete and up to date.
The Senior Maintenance Technician also supports the wider maintenance function by monitoring upcoming vehicle returns, coordinating preventative maintenance activities, maintaining stock levels and ensuring statutory testing and certification records remain current. The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting a structured, data-driven maintenance operation.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Administration & Asset Control
- Book equipment into maintenance using EasyJob, ensuring accurate fault descriptions and asset information are recorded.
- Manage the booking out of repaired equipment, ensuring repairs are correctly documented and assets returned to service.
- Update asset records, including serial numbers following equipment exchanges, and ensure obsolete equipment is correctly recorded as disposed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records to support asset history and lifecycle management.
- Ensure maintenance documentation is completed accurately and consistently.
External Repairs & Vendor Coordination
- Raise manufacturer support cases and Return Material Authorisations (RMAs).
- Coordinate equipment returns to manufacturers and approved repair partners.
- Prepare equipment for shipment, ensuring items are securely packed, labelled and documented.
- Arrange courier collections and deliveries for repair items.
- Create commercial invoices and export documentation for shipments outside the UK where required.
- Receive repaired equipment back into the business and ensure all repairs are checked and processed correctly.
- Monitor repair turnaround times and provide updates to the Head of Maintenance.
Purchasing & Stock Control
- Raise Purchase Orders through Proactis for repairs, shipping costs and replacement parts.
- Process goods received against Purchase Orders.
- Order replacement parts and consumables from approved suppliers.
- Maintain appropriate maintenance stock levels for commonly used items.
- Coordinate engineer requests for parts requiring project or job number allocation.
- Assist with supplier quotations and repair cost tracking.

Maintenance Planning & Operational Readiness
- Review weekly OB truck, tender and flypack reports to identify equipment requiring attention before returning to base.
- Coordinate incoming maintenance workload with the Head of Maintenance and Engineering team.
- Assist in scheduling preventative maintenance activities.
- Support preparation of equipment for upcoming operational deployments.
- Monitor outstanding maintenance activities and follow up where necessary.
Compliance & Certification
- Download and maintain PAT testing records from maintenance testers.
- Ensure PAT records are stored correctly and retained within company systems.
- Work closely with the Electrical Department to ensure:
- OB Trucks maintain valid EICR certification.
- PAT testing remains current.
- Compliance documentation is available for operational use.
- Support maintenance compliance audits where required.
Maintenance Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate repair, shipping and maintenance records.
- Ensure repair histories remain complete and traceable.
- Assist in producing maintenance reports and repair status updates.
- Identify recurring repair themes and communicate trends to the Head of Maintenance.
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance processes and reporting.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Head of Maintenance and Engineering department.
- Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, logistics providers and external repair vendors.
- Communicate repair status, shipping updates and maintenance priorities clearly and professionally.
- Support engineers by ensuring repair administration and logistics operate efficiently.
- Promote accurate record keeping and structured maintenance processes across the department.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working within a technical maintenance, engineering or broadcast support environment.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience managing equipment repairs and logistics.
- Experience using purchasing and stock management systems (e.g. Proactis or similar ERP systems).
- Good understanding of asset management and maintenance workflows.
- Experience coordinating external suppliers and manufacturers.
- Strong attention to detail with accurate record keeping.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within broadcast engineering or media technology.
- Knowledge of EasyJob or similar broadcast asset management systems.
- Experience with international shipping documentation and customs requirements.
- Understanding of broadcast equipment and technical maintenance terminology.
- Knowledge of PAT testing and engineering compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting preventative maintenance programmes.
