Senior Management Accountant – Permanent & 9-Month FTC/Secondment

Location: Oxford
Salary: £56,000
Contract: One Permanent Position and One 9-Month Fixed Term Contract/Secondment
Hybrid working: 1-2 days in office per week

About the Job

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Management Accountant to take responsibility for a Management Accounting team within a sizeable Finance function. You will oversee the production of monthly financial information, provide meaningful insight to stakeholders and help maintain strong financial controls and processes.

Working closely with the Finance Operations Manager, you will also contribute to the effective running and ongoing development of Finance Operations.

Duties will include:

  • Leading and supporting the Management Accounting team, ensuring high-quality outputs are delivered to agreed deadlines.
  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly management accounts and providing clear financial information to stakeholders.
  • Reviewing financial performance and using data to identify trends, issues and areas requiring action.
  • Ensuring appropriate financial controls, policies and processes are consistently applied.
  • Coordinating grant and income-related claims, maintaining accuracy and meeting relevant submission deadlines.
  • Working with stakeholders across the organisation to provide effective financial support and insight.
  • Assisting the Finance Operations Manager with the delivery and development of the wider Finance Operations function.
  • Identifying opportunities to strengthen processes, improve efficiency and enhance the quality of financial reporting.

About the Successful Applicant

You will be a part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA accountant, or hold an equivalent qualification, with management accounting experience gained within a large Finance function. Strong Excel and analytical skills are essential, alongside the ability to interpret complex information and turn data into meaningful insight. You will also be an effective communicator with strong coordination skills and a customer-focused, results-driven approach.

What You Will Receive in Return

You will have the opportunity to join a sizeable Finance function in a senior management accounting capacity, with responsibility for both people and financial outputs. The role offers exposure to a broad stakeholder group and the opportunity to contribute to improvements across Finance Operations. There are two opportunities available, providing a choice between a permanent appointment and a 9-month fixed term contract/secondment.
