Onnec is seeking a commercially focused Senior Management Accountant

To support the Group Financial Reporting Manager with both internal and external reporting. The role will involve liaising with the Accounts Payable team to ensure costs are accurately reflected in the ledgers, with a primary focus on the management accounting of the global HQ UK entity.

The Senior Management Accountant will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to provide commercially focused insight and support key compliance activities, including VAT returns, statutory account filings, external audits and corporation tax filings.

What you’ll be doing as our Senior Management Accountant:

Internal reporting

Management Accounts

  • Oversee the timely and accurate production of the entity’s monthly management accounts, ensuring robust financial controls and adherence to reporting deadlines
  • Review monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate accounting treatment
  • Provide insightful financial analysis of monthly results, identifying key drivers, trends, risks, opportunities, and areas requiring management attention
  • Partner with senior operational and commercial stakeholders to understand business performance and translate financial results into actionable insights
  • Challenge financial and operational performance, ensuring variances are properly understood, investigated, and accompanied by appropriate corrective actions
  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with budget holders to develop realistic, commercially informed financial plans
  • Monitor key revenue, margin, cost, working capital, and profitability drivers, highlighting emerging risks and opportunities to senior management
  • Provide commercial insight into pricing, contract performance, customer profitability, cost structures, and other key business drivers where relevant
  • Work closely with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other finance teams to ensure the integrity of underlying financial data
  • Act as a trusted finance business partner to senior management, providing clear, concise, and commercially relevant financial advice
  • Continuously improve the month-end and management reporting processes, identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance the quality of financial information
  • Mentor and support junior members of the finance team, providing technical guidance and promoting high standards of financial reporting and commercial awareness
  • Production of the UK entity’s monthly 13-week short term cash forecast
  • Owning the production of the UK entity’s intercompany reconciliations and proactively agreeing intercompany balances with other group companies.

  • Assisting with interim and annual audits, preparing breakdowns, analysis and collating backup

Compliance

  • Liaising with tax teams on the monthly VAT returns, answering queries and collating data where applicable.
  • Supporting the Group Financial Reporting Manager in finalising TBs to tax teams and third party advisors for the preparation of statutory accounts and tax filings

ERP System/Ad Hoc tasks

  • Supporting on UAT testing of the ERP system for changes that may be required to the system for additional reports.

What we’re looking for in our Senior Management Accountant:

  • Previous experience in a commercial accounting role with a good working knowledge of finance processes.
  • Newly or recently qualified in CIMA, or an equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced in working with ERP systems.
  • A detailed and methodical approach to work.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment and meet deadlines.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Ability to quickly develop strong working relationships with others.
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Willingness to take responsibility and ownership of tasks.
  • Committed to delivering a high quality of service.
  • Able to use initiative and work independently.
