IN2 Consult is supporting an exciting SME client in West London who are looking to appoint a Senior Management Accountant to join their expanding Finance function.
This is a broad and varied opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys being close to the numbers while also having the opportunity to influence the wider business. The role will have significant exposure to management reporting, financial control, commercial analysis, systems and process improvement, working closely with senior members of the Finance team.
The successful individual will be hands-on and comfortable operating in an environment where priorities can change quickly. There is plenty of scope to take ownership, improve existing ways of working and become a key member of the Finance function as the business continues to develop.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Own key elements of the monthly reporting cycle, ensuring financial information is accurate, insightful, and delivered within agreed timescales.
- Produce and develop management accounts and performance reporting, highlighting significant movements and providing commentary around business performance.
- Maintain strong balance sheet controls, overseeing reconciliations and investigating unusual or unexpected movements.
- Work alongside the Financial Controller and wider Finance team to understand performance against budget, forecast, and historical results.
- Provide financial analysis and insight to help stakeholders understand the key commercial and operational drivers behind the numbers.
- Take ownership of overhead and cost centre reporting, working with budget holders to understand expenditure and identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee intercompany balances and other complex accounting reconciliations, ensuring issues are identified and resolved promptly.
- Play an important role in the year-end process and external audit, preparing information, supporting schedules, and responding to auditor queries.
- Apply sound technical accounting knowledge across day-to-day activities, ensuring financial reporting remains consistent with IFRS and relevant accounting principles.
- Help strengthen the Finance function's controls and processes, identifying weaknesses and implementing practical improvements.
- Get involved in finance systems projects, testing and development, helping the business make better use of its technology and data.
- Look for opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve financial processes, reducing manual work and increasing the quality of reporting.
- Develop effective relationships with stakeholders outside Finance, providing commercially focused support and communicating financial information in a straightforward manner.
- Provide guidance and support to more junior members of the team, helping to maintain a collaborative and high-performing Finance environment.
- Explore the use of AI and emerging technology to improve efficiency, reporting, analysis, and problem-solving.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
