Senior Management Accountant
South Manchester (Hybrid)
£55,000 – £60,000 + Benefits + Career Progression
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK’s established and fastest-growing operators in its sector as a Senior Management Accountant, reporting directly to a hands-on Finance Director who is committed to developing high-performing finance leaders.
Taking ownership of the core management accounting function within a privately held, mid-sized group, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, supporting strategic decision making, and influencing the future direction of a business with significant growth and development plans.
With an expanding portfolio of assets across major UK cities, this role offers significant exposure to senior leadership, complex commercial challenges, and genuine career progression toward a leadership finance track.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly management accounts for the group, including P&L, balance sheet, cash, and KPI commentary for senior leadership and investor partners.
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and re-forecasting across the portfolio, including development budgets and project cash flows.
- Drive project/development accounting: WIP, capex tracking, cost-to-complete, joint-venture reporting, and asset-level profitability.
- Deliver commercial analysis on acquisitions, developments, and operational performance (returns, margins, sensitivity analysis, scenario modelling).
- Support asset and investment management with clear, decision-ready insights on performance, variances, and value-creation opportunities.
- Work closely with the transactional finance team to improve data quality, timelines, and overall finance efficiency.
- Contribute to finance transformation, process improvements, systems, and controls as the function scales with the business.
- Partner with operational and commercial leaders to influence strategic decisions across the portfolio.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
