Senior Management Accountant - Expenses

Salary: £65,000 DOE
Location: London

Hybrid working - 2 days a week in the office

An established insurance business is seeking an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join their Finance team, with a role heavily focused on expense management, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Accounting, you’ll take ownership of expense reporting and analysis, while also supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial controls, and wider Finance projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual expense reporting.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting across the business.
  • Analyse variances, trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintain and review the expense database, identifying issues and inconsistencies.
  • Manipulate and analyse financial data using Excel.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable activity and review the work of others.
  • Manage accruals, prepayments, recharges, and cost allocations.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end financial close.
  • Complete Group reporting through Tagetik.
  • Reconcile bank and General Ledger accounts.
  • Support financial controls and wider Finance projects.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and mentoring to a more junior member of the Finance team.

  • ACCA/CIMA part-qualified or newly qualified.
  • Insurance experience.
  • Experience in management accounts and/or expense reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong data analysis and manipulation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with databases and financial data.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership.
  • SAP, Concur, or AI/automation experience advantageous.
