This post is fixed term/secondment until 01/10/2027. If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee and are applying for this post as a secondment, an agreement for the secondment is needed from your current manager before application.

About the Role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Management Accountant to join a supportive and forward-thinking finance team, supporting the financial management of a significant group of the Health Board's services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the provision of financial information and analyse expenditure in order to improve understanding and management of costs and resources, working within parameters agreed with the Business Controller.
  • Lead on the review and analysis of financial reports from the General ledger in accordance with the agreed timetable and procedures, proactively reviewing and developing both processes and reports.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Highly motivated individual with experience of a complex organisation.
  • Confidence in working with senior service leads and providing robust financial leadership.
  • Ability to interpret and explain financial concepts and information to non-financial managers.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills (including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders, with the ability to challenge and influence others.
  • Ensure processes are efficient, effective and consistent across all areas they are responsible for, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Delivery of robust financial monitoring, forecasting and planning will be essential. You will also need to demonstrate leadership in coordinating workplans across the team. A CCAB qualification is desirable.

Our Services

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest.
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire.
