Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment is delighted to support a highly respected service organisation in Dundee to recruit for a Senior Management Accountant to join their team. Operating within a complex and fast-paced environment, the organisation manages substantial budgets and its finance function plays a pivotal role in supporting operational delivery, strategic planning, financial governance, and service transformation. This organisation can offer career progression, excellent terms and conditions, and this role will manage a small team of 4 people.
The Opportunity
This is a highly visible Senior Management Accountant role, providing financial management and finance business partnering support across a broad portfolio of services with a budget of £170mill. Reporting into senior finance leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role within the service, in financial planning, performance management, and decision support, helping senior stakeholders balance service delivery priorities with financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide management accounting support for a major operational division with responsibility for a budget in excess of £170m
- Develop, manage, and monitor revenue budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
- Partner with senior managers, operational leaders, and service stakeholders to support informed decision-making
- Provide insightful financial analysis, reporting, and performance commentary
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, recommending appropriate actions
- Support business cases, option appraisals, and long-term service planning initiatives
- Drive efficiency, cost improvement, and value-for-money projects
- Prepare and present complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Contribute to annual accounts, statutory reporting, and audit requirements
- Lead, coach, and develop finance team members to ensure a high-quality service is delivered
- Support financial governance, compliance, and continuous improvement of systems and processes

The Candidate
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified member of a recognised professional accountancy body (e.g., ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- Post-qualification experience within a large and complex organisation
- Proven management accounting experience
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Advanced Excel capabilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively
- Experience influencing and partnering with senior stakeholders

On Offer
Salary
- Salary scale: £52,000 - £54,000
Benefits
- Generous pension scheme with employer contribution of 20.9%
- 27 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays, increasing with length of service

- Standard working week of 36 hours
- Mainly office-based (Dundee) working with 1-day per week working from home opportunity
