Insurance Risk Consulting Manager

Overview

Our client, a business consulting firm, is looking for an Insurance Risk Consulting Manager to lead complex risk, regulatory and controls transformation programmes for financial services clients.

You will work directly with senior and C-suite stakeholders, leading client engagements and consulting teams while helping develop and grow the insurance risk capability. The role combines hands-on programme delivery with proposition development, business development and team leadership.

The position offers a base salary of £82,005 and a total cash package of up to £110,000, with bonuses paid every six months.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end risk, regulatory and controls transformation programmes within insurance.
  • Deliver regulatory change programmes covering areas such as Consumer Duty and IFRS 17.
  • Support operational resilience, stress testing and scenario analysis initiatives.
  • Lead risk transformation and target operating model design and implementation across governance, people, process and technology.
  • Advise clients on enterprise risk management, governance and regulatory requirements including FCA, PRA and Solvency II frameworks.
  • Build relationships with senior stakeholders and facilitate complex decision-making.
  • Support business development through proposals, RFP responses, pitches and client conversations.
  • Lead and develop consulting teams, including coaching junior colleagues and contributing to capability growth.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years’ experience within a consulting environment.
  • Deep insurance expertise, including understanding of underwriting, pricing, claims and reinsurance.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management and relevant regulatory frameworks and risk disciplines.
  • Proven experience delivering risk, regulatory or controls transformation programmes.
  • Experience of regulatory change, operational resilience or risk transformation.
  • Experience designing and implementing target operating models across governance, people, process and technology.
  • Experience working in agile or hybrid delivery environments using structured delivery methodologies.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and challenge at C-suite level.
  • Commercial experience including proposition development, business development and sales.
  • Experience leading and developing teams in complex, matrix-managed environments.

Desirable

  • Experience gained within a Big Four or other leading consulting firm.
  • Familiarity with risk tooling, controls frameworks or data-led risk and reporting environments.
