The Opportunity:

A well-established and growing professional services business is looking to appoint a Senior Manager within its Office of the CFO team.

The role will work closely with a portfolio of mid-market and owner-managed businesses, providing a blend of finance leadership, advisory support, and hands-on delivery. This is a newly created position driven by continued growth. Alongside managing existing client relationships, you will help develop the firm's presence in the local market and contribute to generating new business.

You will work closely with senior client stakeholders, providing oversight across their finance functions while also leading projects focused on improving processes, systems, and financial performance. The role provides exposure to a varied client base and the opportunity to influence decisions at senior level.

The Role:

Client & Finance Leadership

  • Take responsibility for delivering finance services across a portfolio of clients, ensuring work meets agreed deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and understand their wider business priorities.
  • Oversee management accounts and statutory reporting.
  • Provide meaningful financial analysis and commercial recommendations to help clients improve performance.
  • Take ownership of client finance functions and ensure effective delivery across the wider team.

Advisory & Projects

  • Lead a range of client-specific finance projects, including systems implementation, process improvement, and financial control reviews.
  • Support businesses through finance transformation and remediation programmes.
  • Work alongside colleagues across the wider firm to provide a coordinated service to clients.
  • Identify areas where additional specialist support could benefit clients and contribute to business development.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the finance team.
  • Plan resources effectively, ensuring projects have the appropriate technical expertise and capacity.
  • Support the wider management team in delivering financial targets and the strategic objectives of the department.

About You:

We are looking for a qualified finance professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with commercial judgement and client-facing credibility.

You will ideally have:

  • ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience gained in practice, industry, or an outsourced finance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Experience managing client relationships and developing finance teams.
  • A track record of delivering finance, systems, or process improvement projects.
  • The ability to turn financial information into clear, practical commercial advice.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with finance systems, cloud accounting platforms, and technology-led solutions.
