The Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) function is responsible for delivering integrated control, instrumentation and monitoring systems across the power station. C&I Components & Physical Integration is responsible for ensuring these systems are physically integrated, qualified and deliverable within the overall plant design.
About the Role:
As a Senior Manager – C&I (Components & Physical Integration), you will lead the specification, design, integration, qualification and delivery of C&I hardware, instrumentation, equipment packages and plant integration solutions across the SMR programme.

Working closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Layout, Equipment Qualification, Safety Case and Plant Integration teams, you will ensure complete, coordinated and constructible solutions while maintaining compliance with nuclear safety, qualification and operability requirements. A major part of this role will involve acting as the intelligent customer for instrumentation suppliers, equipment manufacturers, package vendors and engineering service providers, establishing a world-class C&I integration capability to support fleet deployment.
We’ll Need You To:
- Lead specification and delivery of instrumentation, field equipment and C&I hardware packages
- Define equipment performance, environmental qualification and reliability requirements
- Develop strategies supporting safe operation, maintenance and lifecycle performance

- Chair technical reviews, governance meetings and engineering assurance activities
- Lead physical integration of C&I systems within plant buildings and modules
- Define equipment access, location, installation and maintainability requirements
- Coordinate interfaces with Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Plant Layout teams
- Support constructability, operability and commissioning reviews
- Establish strategic supplier relationships and manage equipment supply chains
- Lead vendor assessment, supplier qualification and equipment selection activities
- Drive programme delivery, quality assurance and technical risk management
- Build and develop a high-performing engineering organisation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
