Job Description

We are seeking an experienced strategic advisor who is equally at home analyzing a dataset and presenting to an executive leadership team. The Senior Manager, Client Advisory Services leads consulting engagements for law firm clients, translating Thomson Reuters’ industry-leading market intelligence into strategy that shapes their growth, profitability, and competitive position. Your ability to understand and address client needs will help our team foster long-term partnerships and drive success.

We are looking for a Senior Manager who can move fluidly between rigorous analysis and boardroom-level counsel. You will own the most complex client relationships, set the direction of custom research engagements, and deliver the recommendations firm leadership acts on — while working closely with fellow Client Advisory team members to shape the market intelligence and reporting that underpins that advice.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager, Client Advisory Services, your key responsibilities will include:

Advisory Services and Strategic Consulting

  • Lead business consulting engagements for law firm clients, informing strategic decisions and developing recommendations that advance their growth and profitability objectives.
  • Counsel clients on brand enhancement, market positioning, differentiation, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Advise firm leadership on business development opportunities, market entry, lateral hires, new practice areas, industry/client teams, and mergers & acquisitions.
  • Analyze financial and operational performance and provide guidance to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Frame the strategic questions behind each engagement and direct the research agenda needed to answer them.

Research and Analysis

  • Perform comprehensive research and analysis on topics pertinent to client needs, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Set the analytical approach and methodology for custom engagements and review outputs for rigor and relevance.
  • Author and present high-impact reports, presentations, and executive summaries, translating complex data into a clear strategic narrative.
  • Partner with team members on market reports and custom research, providing direction on scope, analysis, and client context.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the senior point of contact for key accounts, owning the relationship with firm leadership and managing multiple engagements simultaneously.
  • Build and maintain strong and enduring client relationships by understanding their objectives and providing tailored solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing engagements and support business development for the Client Advisory practice.
  • Develop relationships with industry leaders and other stakeholders to drive market visibility and credibility for Client Advisory Services.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Mentor and develop junior colleagues, providing guidance on analysis, client communication, presentation, and professional growth.
  • Work closely with internal teams to align research and advisory efforts with client goals.
  • Collaborate with Client Advisory colleagues to share insights and best practices.
  • Work with department and business segment leaders to help shape the team's service offerings and methodologies.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations, and strategy sessions.
  • Stay current with legal industry trends, market developments, regulatory changes, and emerging research methodologies, and brief clients on their implications.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
