Johnson & Johnson MedTech | Vision is seeking a Senior Manager – Commercial Development Projects.

This is an office based (hybrid model) in UK (Maidenhead), France (Paris) or Ireland (Dublin, Limerick) with up to 30% travel.

Since debuting the world’s first disposable soft contact lens in 1987, it has been helping patients see better through its world-leading ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses. In 2017, J&J expanded into cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery (LASIK), and consumer eye health, and now serves more than 60 million patients a day across 103 countries with its eye health portfolio.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for leading high-impact, cross-functional transformation programmes, with a strong emphasis on commercial value creation, gross profit improvement, and strategic portfolio optimisation for the Vision Care business across the Western Europe markets.

This role goes beyond project delivery and requires a high-agency leader who takes full ownership for outcomes—someone who proactively identifies opportunities, mobilises stakeholders, and drives measurable business impact

The successful candidate will be a leading individual contributor who is viewed as a valuable partner by peers and will act as a catalyst for profitable growth, leading initiatives that enhance capital efficiency, optimise product portfolios, and improve commercial execution through both systems transformation and business model innovation.

This high-visibility role offers the individual the opportunity to showcase their skills and make a significant business impact, providing a robust platform for career development within J&J, allowing them to pursue career aspirations in any chosen direction.

Reporting directly to Managing Director, Western Europe Vision Care, this position will support the J&J Vision Care Western Europe Leadership Team, and work closely with Market Development Director, J&J Vision and EMEA PMO community as a leading member of the Program Management Office.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme & Portfolio Management Excellence

  • Lead, coordinate, and govern multiple interconnected projects, ensuring alignment to EMEA Vision strategic priorities.
  • Challenge the status quo and drive decision-making
  • Ensure delivery of tangible, measurable results
  • Develop integrated programme plans, including timelines, dependencies, resources, budgets & budgetary control, vendor management, and risk mitigation.
  • Implement robust governance frameworks, including executive-level reporting on:
    • Value delivery (gross profit, revenue, cost optimisation)
    • Portfolio health and prioritisation
    • Strategic alignment and trade-offs
  • Lead and influence senior stakeholders across Marketing, Commercial, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, and Compliance.

2. Strategic Business Transformation & Value Creation

  • Lead and deliver a portfolio of strategic initiatives aligned to mid- and long-term growth objectives, with clear linkage to gross profit and return on capital investment.
  • Proactively identify business issues and opportunities
  • Identify, shape, and execute gross profit enhancement programmes, including:
    • Portfolio optimisation (SKU rationalisation, mix improvement, lifecycle management)
    • Pricing, margin, and trade investment effectiveness
    • Channel and go-to-market model optimisation
  • Be accountable for value realisation, ensuring matrix teams deliver against financial and strategic targets—not only milestones.
  • Translate strategic priorities into a structured roadmap and sequenced project portfolio, ensuring measurable value delivery and benefits tracking.

3. Strategic Roadmap Development

  • Build and continuously refine multi-year strategic roadmaps linked to:
    • Sustainable capital efficient profitable growth
    • Market competitiveness and portfolio positioning
  • Translate strategy into clear execution pathways, defining:
    • Priority initiatives
    • Sequencing and dependencies
    • Resource requirements and trade-offs
  • Partner with commercial, finance, and supply chain leaders to ensure roadmap credibility and execution feasibility.

4. Systems & Business Model Transformation

  • Shape and lead major system implementations (CRM, ERP, Digital EcoSystems) while ensuring:
    • Strong linkage to business value and commercial outcomes
    • Adoption and operating model integration
  • Drive transformation initiatives including:
    • New trade channels and routes-to-market
    • Business model innovation
    • Digital enablement of commercial processes

4. Technical & Functional Skills

  • Experience with CRM (Salesforce/Dynamics), ERP (SAP S4 Hana), and Digital Transformations.
  • Strong grounding in commercial, financial, and supply chain processes.
  • Expertise in project/programme methodologies (FPX, Agile, PMBOK, etc.).
