Job Summary

This exciting senior role will help us to achieve more impact with more partners in more settings, supporting increased housing delivery hand in hand with delivering locally relevant outcomes.
This role will support the Senior Manager – Stakeholder & Community Engagement in providing consistent and credible community engagement and social impact support into a growing number of complex and nationally significant housing and regeneration delivery projects right across the country. It will support with refreshing our existing approach to engagement and social impact. It will develop new thought-leadership and improve existing national tools and techniques to support regional delivery. It will play a pivotal role in ensuring residents, partners, and stakeholders are fully involved throughout the development process for new settlements, major urban extensions, and regeneration schemes, helping to shape places and deliver meaningful social value outcomes.
Job Description
Working within the National Town Planning and Community Engagement Team, the role will have day-to-day responsibility for line managing 2 x Community Engagement Managers, along with planning and meeting the team’s annual performance targets. With oversight from the Senior Manager – Stakeholder and Community Engagement, the role will have responsibility for updating the existing community engagement framework, toolkits and guidance. The role will develop shared learning, including the embedding and dissemination of best practice, and should have in-depth knowledge and practical experience of the planning and development process.
The role requires an expert knowledge and experience of creating and delivering new approaches to engagement and social impact linked to the planning, housing and regeneration process. As a strategic role, it will need to update and create new credible approaches that can be applied consistently into a wide and growing range of project settings – all at different stages in the development process. It will require exceptional, high performance and the proven ability to support team members in delivering high performance and reporting evidence. Collaboration and innovation are key attributes in very fast-paced, complex and demanding settings where a clear passion and commitment for engagement and social impact will need to be demonstrated.

If you are a high performing individual, with a long track record in creating new and improving existing approaches to engagement, social impact and sustainable placemaking, please consider applying.
You'll need to be competent in directly managing staff, supporting and motivating them to achieve their own and the wider teams performance targets. The ideal candidate will also have experience in procurement and management of specialist consultants, and an ability to anticipate and respond to policy changes that influence engagement and placemaking strategies throughout the project lifecycle.

You’ll bring and apply your examples of where you have created and delivered impactful approaches to engagement and social impact on complex, fast-paced housing and regeneration delivery projects. Collaboration, innovation and evidence of going above and beyond every day will be a clear expectation. A strong awareness of best practice engagement methods, political sensitivities, and the ability to measure and report on impact will be essential.
You’ll have experience of improving existing approaches to engagement and social impact and creating new ones. You’ll represent Homes England in internal and external settings promoting engagement and social impact to colleagues and partners. A great communicator and advocate you will be able to work across the country and be experienced in reporting and capturing performance achievement and impact in a flexible, yet credible way.

You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level, and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as a community engagement team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
