Job Purpose
Reporting to the VP, Corporate Communications, the Senior Manager Corporate Communications will play an important role in managing and improving National Grid’s corporate and executive communications.
They will support delivery of a corporate communications strategy to strengthen National Grid’s reputation, ensuring consistent and effective corporate communications, including world-class media relations and executive communications. They will contribute to a clear engagement and communications plan for the CEO, alongside timely briefings and content that support her to execute well and with confidence.
Key Accountabilities
- Support implementation of an integrated and effective corporate communications plan aligned to National Grid’s strategy and purpose.
- Support external communications governance across the wider team (including consistent use of agreed messaging and external speaking governance).
- Maintain key media relationships, ensuring the organisation is known as connected and transparent with target national media.
- Own the delivery aspects of an strategic external communications approach (media and events) for the CEO, including delivery of excellent content and briefs.
- Collaborate with functional partners in Investor relations, Company Secretary and Sustainability to support delivery of financial communications and company reporting – including for Group Annual Report & Accounts and AGM.
- Partner Public Affairs & Policy to ensure clear and consistent messaging to key audiences, that furthers National Grid’s policy aims.
- Monitor the effectiveness of activity using our reputation and media insight platforms and refine and optimise external communications.
- Role model effective use of AI – across identified use cases – as we continue to increase AI use in Corporate Affairs in service of both efficiency and effectiveness.
- Play an active role in crisis communications as necessary.

Qualifications
- Experience in corporate communications and/or public relations in a large corporate environment, ideally in a regulated industry.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies that enhance corporate reputation and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong experience of media relations and crisis communications.
- Financial communications experience in a Plc beneficial.
- Outstanding writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively and calmly in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
