The Job
The Corporate Strategy & Planning team plays a central role in driving AVEVA’s growth by developing and guiding the overall direction and success of our organisation. The team’s primary purpose is to develop strategies, conduct business analysis for executive decisions, and operationalise mechanisms that help AVEVA to achieve our long-term objectives.
We are seeking a strategic and analytical Corporate Strategy & Planning Senior Manager to join our London-based Corporate Strategy function and help shape the future of our business.
The right candidate will have the:
- Consultative approach to dive deeply into ambiguity, then rapidly frame and problem-solve.
- Entrepreneurial temperament to roll up the sleeves and be resourceful as this is a lean team.
- Demonstrated agility to work with geographically dispersed teams while managing dynamic and urgent issues.
Key Responsibilities
You will play a central role in shaping AVEVA’s global strategy by leading and contributing to our strategic planning and ongoing strategy execution. You will coordinate cross-functional inputs, analyse internal and external dynamics and synthesise insights into a unified global strategy that can be executed at all levels of the business. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
Strategic Planning & Analysis
- Lead and support AVEVA’s global 5-year strategic planning cycle including preparation, coordination, synthesis and final recommendation stages.
- Gather and integrate inputs from Business Areas, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Finance, and Regional Leadership teams to create a coherent enterprise-wide strategy.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of external trends including market shifts, macroeconomic developments, competitor moves, technology evolution and customer demands.
- Build financial and operational models to evaluate scenarios, assess investment opportunities, frame strategic options and drive effective decision making.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of AVEVA’s strategic planning methodologies, frameworks, and governance processes.
- Evaluate the strategic implications of market dynamics identifying risks, opportunities and required strategic pivots.
- Translate complex findings into clear, actionable strategic insights for senior leadership.

Strategic Program Management
- Identify, launch and oversee ongoing strategic initiatives ranging from market entry and industry diversification to competitor analysis and portfolio strategy.
- Monitor progress and act as program leader; facilitating progress and helping leaders to course correct when needed. Develop and maintain AVEVA’s long-term strategic outlook, including annual and multiyear planning horizons.
- Produce high-impact presentations, whitepapers and updates for Executive Leadership, the Board and cross-functional planning forums.
- Frame strategic issues, synthesise ambiguous information, and craft compelling narratives that guide decision-making.
- Respond to ad hoc strategic analysis requests (approx. 1-2 per month) to inform investment decisions, business cases, and market assessments.
Cross-functional & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner closely with leaders across Product, Sales, Finance, R&D, HR, and regional business units to ensure ongoing alignment around strategic objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to internal teams, providing guidance on strategic frameworks, prioritisation, and business planning methodologies.
- Collaborate with M&A on market scans, inorganic strategy insights, and portfolio assessments.
- Champion a culture of strategic, data-driven thinking across the organisation through knowledge sharing and internal enablement.
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, business planning or strategic finance - ideally a mix of consulting and in-house strategy roles.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and distill actionable insights.
- Advanced Excel modelling skills (scenario analysis, financial modelling, forecasting).
- Excellent PowerPoint and storytelling capabilities; able to craft compelling narratives for executive audiences.
- Experience analysing external market, competitor and macroeconomic trends.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills; able to collaborate effectively across functions and seniority levels.
- Familiarity with strategic planning cycles, frameworks and methodologies (e.g., scenario planning, portfolio analysis, value mapping).
- Experience with market intelligence tools, industry datasets or BI platforms (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, project management capability and ability to operate in a fast-paced, lean environment.
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance or quantitative science desirable.

Hybrid Working
We work in a hybrid way at AVEVA. Most roles are based at a local AVEVA office, with an expectation of being on-site 50% of your working hours to support collaboration and connection. Some positions are fully office-based depending on the nature of the work, and certain roles that support specific customers or markets may be remote. The working arrangement for this position will be confirmed during the hiring process.
