Senior Manager, Credit Risk Originations Strategy
We’re looking for an experienced credit-risk professional to lead our New Business Originations strategy and a small team of analysts. The role will combine strategic ownership with hands-on analytical delivery, translating complex business questions into clear recommendations and controlled strategy changes. The successful candidate will balance sustainable growth, profitability, credit performance, and good customer outcomes within Jaja’s risk appetite.
Key responsibilities:
- Optimise credit risk strategies for acquisition of new customers, balancing risk and reward to optimise profitability within business risk appetite.
- Lead strategy changes from initial analysis and recommendation through governance, implementation, validation, and post-implementation monitoring.
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team of analysts, setting priorities, assuring the quality of analytical delivery, and supporting their professional development.
- Use tools such as SQL and Python to manipulate and analyse data.
- Promote a test-and-learn approach, constantly challenging existing strategies and processes to find better outcomes.
- Provide the business with data-based insight and recommendations for improving decision strategies for new customers covering initial credit limits, policy rules, promotional offers.
- Perform detailed analysis on origination vintage performance trends to ensure new lending remains sustainable.
- Collaborate with a wider variety of stakeholders, including Tech, DataOps, Commercial Finance, Customer Service, and Compliance to ensure smooth delivery of strategies in alignment with forecasts.
- Maintain effective governance and controls including clear documentation, approvals, implementation testing, monitoring, and escalation of unexpected outcomes or control weaknesses.

Required Skills & Experience:
- A degree in a quantitative field like Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or Computer Science
- 5+ years of experience in an analytical role, ideally in unsecured credit risk / credit cards.
- Extensive experience using SQL to extract and manipulate data, Python is a plus.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and manage time effectively.
- The ability to interact and work alongside key stakeholders at all levels across the business with attention to expectation management.
- Experience in clearly communicating complex analytical insights in a simple manner to diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in managing analysts.
