Overview
This is not a traditional eCommerce trading role.
We’re not looking for someone who only manages promotions, updates products and reports on yesterday’s numbers.
We’re looking for someone who can own the DTC platform, connect the technology and data behind it, and turn commercial priorities into a digital roadmap that drives performance.
This role sits at the intersection of eCommerce, digital platforms and data. You’ll lead the DTC function, manage and develop an eCommerce Executive, and oversee specialist CRO and development agency support.
You’ll own Shopify and the wider DTC technology ecosystem, connecting systems across fulfilment, subscriptions, CRM, payments and analytics. You’ll ensure the infrastructure underneath the customer experience is stable, scalable and giving teams reliable information to make better decisions.
Hairburst operates across markets with very different behaviours. Subscription is highly developed in the UK, while customers across the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary respond to different purchase journeys, promotions and payment mechanics. You’ll help create experiences that work locally while building a platform that scales globally.
Main Responsibilities
eCommerce Performance & Trading
- Own the DTC roadmap and its contribution to revenue, conversion, average order value and margin.
- Lead the eCommerce function while remaining close enough to the detail to step in when needed.
- Manage and develop the eCommerce Executive, creating clear ownership of day-to-day trade, site updates, processes and SOPs.
- Use customer and performance data to improve UX, merchandising, offers, subscription journeys and checkout by market.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

CRO & Development
- Own the relationship with Hairburst’s CRO and development agency, ensuring external resource is focused on the strongest commercial opportunities.
- Build and prioritise a clear testing and development roadmap based on customer insight, performance data and business value.
- Challenge recommendations, interrogate estimates and agree clear hypotheses, measures and expected outcomes.
- Create fast feedback loops so the business understands what worked, what did not and what should happen next.
Digital Platforms & Integrations
- Act as the internal business owner for Shopify and the wider DTC technology stack.
- Partner with Operations and Finance on integrations across Shopify, Fulfil, payments, subscription platforms and other business systems.
- Ensure customer, product, order, inventory and financial data flows accurately and reliably between platforms.
- Translate commercial and operational requirements into clear technical solutions for internal and external partners.
DTC Data Foundations
- Take ownership of the quality and reliability of Hairburst’s eCommerce tracking, GA4, Shopify data and key digital events.
- Work closely with Data to define what the DTC team needs to measure and ensure the underlying information is accessible and trusted.
- Turn commercial questions into clear data requirements, helping teams make faster and better-informed decisions.
- Support Retention with the integrations, event tracking and customer data flows needed to deliver strong lifecycle performance.
Build for Scale
- Identify opportunities to automate processes, reduce manual work and simplify how teams operate across eCommerce, Operations, Finance, CRM and Data.
- Build scalable standards, ownership and documentation rather than becoming the person who executes everything personally.
- Ensure the DTC platform and wider stack can support Hairburst’s continued international growth and future brand portfolio.
- Bring teams together around one roadmap, shared priorities and clear commercial outcomes.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience across eCommerce or digital platforms, ideally within a DTC consumer brand.
- Strong Shopify experience, ideally Shopify Plus; Shopify Markets experience would be a major advantage.
- A commercial understanding of eCommerce performance, including revenue, conversion, AOV, margin and customer journeys.
- Experience owning or playing a significant role in an eCommerce technology stack.
- Strong knowledge of CRO and experience managing external development or optimisation partners.
- Confidence working across ERP/OMS, CRM, subscription, analytics, payments and wider third-party platforms.
- The ability to understand APIs, integrations, event tracking, feeds and data flows without needing to be a developer.
- Experience managing and developing at least one direct report.
- Strong cross-functional communication across Growth, CRM, Operations, Finance, Data and technical partners.
- Multi-market eCommerce experience and an understanding that localisation goes far beyond translation.
- Bonus points for experience with Fulfil, subscription eCommerce, SQL/BI tools, customer data platforms or automation.
