The Role
The Senior Manager for Catering & Hospitality provides strategic and operational leadership for catering and front-of-house hospitality across Harlaxton College and Harlaxton Manor.
This position will lead a professional, efficient, and welcoming operation serving a highly varied community including but not limited to: residential students and faculty, employees, visiting university partners and academic groups, custom programs, wedding and event clients, community visitors, and guests of Harlaxton Manor.

The role combines strong catering and food-service expertise with exceptional people management, administration, financial oversight, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Building an effective and positive working culture within the catering operation
- Ensuring appropriate staffing and labor models
- Developing managers and supervisors
- Maintaining rigorous operational and compliance standards
- Ensuring that Harlaxton's catering and hospitality provision contributes positively to both the student experience and the commercial success of the Manor
Working closely with the teams in Events, Finance, Student Experience, and Custom Programs, the Senior Manager for Catering & Hospitality will help create a seamless Harlaxton experience in which excellent food, service, and hospitality are central to how students, clients, and visitors experience the College and Manor. This position will also serve on the Harlaxton Leadership Team and contribute to institutional planning and operational decision-making.
About You
- Significant professional experience within catering, hospitality, food and beverage, or a comparable operation.
- Demonstrable experience managing professional kitchen and catering teams (including back-of-house and front-of-house operations).
- Strong administrative, supervision, and organizational skills.
- Commercial and financial awareness, including experience managing budgets, food costs, purchasing, margins, or comparable financial responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and warmly with a wide range of people, including students, colleagues, casual employees, clients, and senior visitors.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused during high-pressure events and periods of significant operational activity.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends associated with weddings, major College events, and other hospitality activity.

Additional Information
- 37.5 - 45 hours per week depending
- Regular evenings and weekend work required
- Flexibility is essential due to the nature of the events industry
Interviews Timeline
- Virtual screening interviews will take place the last 2 weeks of September and possibly the first week of October.
- Final candidates will be invited to Harlaxton Manor to interview for a full day with the various teams the last two weeks of October.
