Help Amazon learn from the best delivery, logistics and manufacturing companies in the world, and turn what you find into the way we design and run our delivery stations.
We are looking for a leader to build a new Global Benchmarking team from a blank page, based in Barcelona or London and working across Europe and North America.
The next step change in cost, speed and safety for our delivery network will come from outside Amazon, and today that learning has no single home. Your team will study other carriers, logistics operators, manufacturers, startups and new technologies, and every study will end in a clear recommendation to adopt, adapt, watch or ignore what we found, handed to the leader who owns the decision. You will design the roadmap, hire the team, and set the method our whole organization uses to learn from the outside world. You will be measured on the ideas the business adopts and the impact they deliver, not on the number of studies you publish.
This is a standing function, because carriers, technology and our own network keep changing. You will keep a living external view of the industry that feeds our long-term strategy, and you will travel regularly between Europe and North America.
Key job responsibilities
- Build the Global Benchmarking team from scratch, including its roadmap, operating model and hiring plan, and coach and develop the engineers and analysts you hire.
- Own a quarterly benchmarking plan that names each study, its owner and the business decision it feeds, and report progress to senior leaders.
- Set one study method for the organization, with metrics defined upfront, evidence held to an engineering bar, and every study closing with a clear recommendation.
- Lead deep external studies, for example how businesses that already deliver by micromobility run it, what established quick commerce operators do better, or how other carriers run sort and dispatch.
- Run a recurring scan of startups, emerging technologies and industry events, and keep every finding in one searchable repository.
- Publish a yearly outlook that scores the trends that matter for delivery on impact and time to adoption, as an input to our long-term planning.
- Follow every recommendation until the business adopts, rejects or parks it.
- Make sure every contact with another company follows clear ethical and legal guardrails, with legal review before any exchange.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A day in the life
A morning might start with a question from our design team in Europe about how other carriers stage parcels for dispatch, which you scope and hand to the right person on your team. Later you Dive Deep with an engineer on whether a draft study's numbers are truly comparable, and you prepare a visit to a European logistics operator. You end the day with a design leader in North America, agreeing which finding is ready to pilot and who owns it. Some weeks you will be at an industry event or a startup showcase, building the network your team learns from.
About the team
We create the worldwide concepts for Amazon's delivery stations, the processes that run inside them and the equipment they use, and our regional design teams adapt those concepts to real buildings across the network. We work across Europe, North America and other regions, and we care most about ideas that land: a concept only counts when it changes how a station is built or run. Global Benchmarking will be our window on the outside world. You will join at the start, with room to Think Big about what the team becomes and to shape it from day one.
