Senior Manager, Global Client Solutions & Strategy - Protection
London | Global Life Reinsurance | Strategic & Commercial Role
We are working with a leading global life reinsurer on a high-profile opportunity within its Protection business.
This role would suit a qualified actuary, or someone from a similarly technical insurance background, who has gradually moved towards a broader, more strategic and commercially focused remit.
Rather than sitting within a traditional technical actuarial function, this position offers the opportunity to work across global strategy, client solutions, proposition development and senior stakeholder engagement.
The Opportunity
You will play an important role in helping shape the future direction of the Protection business globally. Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Identifying and assessing new markets, segments, and commercial opportunities
- Leading the development of new global products and propositions
- Helping shape Protection strategy across multiple international markets
- Taking strategic initiatives from initial concept through to execution
- Working closely with regional Client Solutions teams to share ideas and identify opportunities across markets
- Supporting senior leadership with strategic priorities and key initiatives
- Contributing to wider divisional strategy projects
- Developing material for senior internal discussions, client workshops, and pitches
- Acting as a link between different markets and helping ensure the strongest ideas are leveraged globally

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why Consider It?
This is a particularly attractive opportunity for someone who enjoys the commercial and strategic side of the industry and wants to broaden their career beyond a traditional actuarial pathway.
The role offers:
- Global exposure across a leading international life reinsurer
- Significant visibility with senior stakeholders
- The opportunity to influence where the business grows and invests
- Exposure across multiple markets and geographies
- A combination of strategy, proposition development, client thinking, and commercial decision-making
- The chance to help develop new markets and propositions from the ground up
- A route into a broader and more commercially influential career path
What Are They Looking For?
The successful candidate is likely to have a strong background within life insurance or reinsurance, ideally having started their career in an actuarial, pricing, client solutions, or similarly analytical role.

They are particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:
- Strong strategic and commercial thinking
- A good understanding of the life insurance and reinsurance landscape
- The ability to cut through complex information and focus on what really matters
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder management across different teams and geographies
- The ability to develop ideas and turn them into practical commercial initiatives
- Creativity and the ability to think beyond established approaches
Protection experience would be beneficial, but the role could equally suit someone from a broader life insurance or reinsurance background who has the right strategic mindset and commercial instincts.
If you are an actuary who has increasingly found yourself drawn towards strategy, clients, commercial decision-making, and influencing senior stakeholders, this could be an excellent next step.
