About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual to join our Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction Indirect Tax team. As a key player, you’ll leverage your sector expertise to provide exceptional advisory services to a diverse range of clients, guiding them through their indirect tax obligations with confidence.


Mission

Our VAT professionals are more than just advisors; they are strategic partners who thrive in dynamic transactional environments. You will:

  • Work closely with clients in complex transactions.
  • Address their indirect tax risks and priorities.
  • Structure pragmatic, commercial solutions to enhance daily indirect tax management.
  • Ensure UK real estate asset deal considerations are tax-efficient.
  • Model VAT to support cash flow and cost management.
  • Identify, quantify, and remediate historical risks.
  • Embed VAT considerations in contractual arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

This senior management role requires the following key responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Create, support, sustain, and lead effective teams.
  • Deliver quality work and take day-to-day leadership of the team.
  • Coach and mentor staff while encouraging professional development.
  • Drive people initiatives, including training and talent retention.
  • Manage complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring:
    • Technical excellence
    • A practical, business-driven approach
  • Lead indirect tax considerations in large M&A transactions.
  • Foster strong client relationships while delivering outstanding client service.
  • Demonstrate negotiation skills—hold informed opinions and handle challenges effectively.
  • Proactively develop client relationships to win new business.
  • Convert potential leads into revenue.
  • Build internal and external networks to support team leverage.
  • Maximize value from delivered tax services for both EY and clients while managing risks.

Skills and Requirements

What We Look For

  • Proven business development skills—capable of identifying and selling new opportunities.
  • Outstanding time management—remain composed under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and oral, in virtual and physical settings.
  • Advanced experience in VAT from an accountancy or in-house team.
  • Recognized qualifications such as ATT/ACA/CA/Technical Training Course, or breadth of knowledge at the level of a specialist tax qualification.
