Indirect Tax Manager – Real Estate, Hospitality & Construction VAT Team

The Opportunity
Our VAT professionals help clients identify opportunities and mitigate indirect tax risks. They leverage deep sector experience and knowledge of global legal and regulatory systems to help clients meet compliance obligations while achieving their business goals.
The Indirect Tax Manager role focuses on supporting clients in real estate, hospitality, and construction to improve their management of indirect taxes. This includes advising on transactions, enhancing working capital, reducing errors and costs, and ensuring correct handling of taxes such as VAT and GST. Professionals in this role guide clients on how indirect taxes impact their supply chains, financial, and accounting systems.
Your Responsibilities

- Lead and develop high-performing teams with enthusiasm, ensuring effective collaboration.
- Deliver high-quality work and provide day-to-day leadership for the delivery team.
- Support the growth and development of staff through supervision, coaching, and mentoring.
- Contribute to tax professional retention and training initiatives.
Client Responsibilities
- High-level management of complex indirect tax projects, ensuring technical excellence and a pragmatic, business-driven approach.
- Advise on M&A transactional indirect tax considerations, offering strategic guidance.
- Build and maintain strong tax relationships with clients while delivering exceptional service.
- Develop negotiation and commercial acumen to sustain opinions and address challenges.
- Prospect for business development by proactively managing existing clients and acquiring new ones.
- Convert referral opportunities from other EY practice areas into engagements.
- Build internal and external networks to leverage for team growth.
- Extract maximum value from tax services for both EY and clients while managing risk effectively.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Significant experience in VAT, either from accountancy firms or in-house tax roles.
- A professional qualification such as:
- ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants)
- ATT (Association of Tax Technicians)
- CA (Chartered Accountant)
- Tax Inspector certification with full Technical Training
- Equivalent tax specialist knowledge and experience.
Ideal Qualifications
- Project management skills to plan, prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage budgets.
