Job Title: Senior Manager – Legal Dept (Inhouse)
Your New Salary: £80,000 - 100,000 per annum dependent on experience.
Location: London, The City (Hybrid working after successful completion of probationary period)
Full-time, Permanent
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
What You'll be Doing:
- General Corporate: M&A, general commercial contracts, and in-house property matters.
- Compliance: internal applications/seminars related to ABC laws, contract approval, and export control/sanctions.
- Litigation: labour disputes and general commercial disputes.
- Manage communications with external counsel and senior stakeholders in our European bloc.
- Conduct research and keep up to date with the latest laws and regulations, especially those that affect Japanese-headquartered companies and our operations generally in Europe.
- Communicate with our counterparts at HQ in Tokyo.
- Review and draft contracts and other legal risk related documents
- Manage documentation and assist the execution of transactions from a legal perspective
- Communicate with commercial teams and external clients
- Liaise with and instruct external lawyers effectively
- Handle legal disputes and contentious matters
- Research legal issues and other cross border legal risk matters
- Handle compliance matters (including delivering anti-corruption and export control seminars).

The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:
- Must be a Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales (other common law jurisdictions e.g. Australia/New Zealand may be considered).
- Qualified lawyer - approx. 5-7 PQE
Desirable:
- Understanding of Japanese working culture or working in a multinational company.
- In-house experience.
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills
- Strong team player
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
- Proactive attitude to continuous learning and self-development
- Liaise with relevant teams in Tokyo headquarters.
