We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Marketing – Consumer Insights to join the Credit Acceptance marketing team, reporting to the Sr. Director, Marketing Insights & Planning. This person will lead customer research and segmentation, translating consumer needs and behaviors into insights the marketing team and enterprise can act on. Deep expertise across primary and secondary methods is essential, along with the judgment to know which to use for speed and cost efficiency.
This role will feed findings into marketing's broader story on pain points and opportunities, inform requirements for our Customer Data Platform (CDP), and support business cases for growth and retention initiatives — presenting to executive audiences, including the C-suite. Success requires an AI-first mindset, using AI and data to generate meaningful insights faster and at lower cost.
Outcomes and Activities
- This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to our Southfield, Michigan office may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at our Southfield, Michigan office if requested by the team member.
- Lead customer research and segmentation, determining when to field primary research versus leverage secondary data to answer questions quickly and cost-effectively.
- Champion an AI-first approach, using AI and modern tools to accelerate insight generation and lower costs.
- Build deep understanding of prospects and existing customers — needs, behaviors, and decision drivers — across the customer lifecycle.
- Partner with the Sr. Director, Marketing Insights & Planning to fold findings into a cohesive story spanning consumer, competitive, market, and dealer insights.
- Inform marketing's requirements for the Customer Data Platform (CDP), and feed research into cross-functional insights reviews and business cases for growth and retention initiatives.
- Present findings and recommendations to executive audiences, including the C-suite, translating data into actional strategic guidance.
- Manage research vendors, panels, and budgets, ensuring rigor, quality and efficiency.
- Build and develop a high-performing consumer insights team.
- Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills
- Research Expertise: Deep expertise across qualitative and quantitative methods, with the judgment to know when primary research is warranted versus when secondary data answers the question faster and more cheaply.
- AI & Automation: First-mover mindset applying AI and modern tools to generate insights faster and at lower cost.
- Segmentation: Experience building and applying customer segmentation to sharpen targeting and strategy.
- Storytelling: Translates findings into a clear, compelling narrative with actionable implications.
- Executive Communication: Confident presenting to senior leaders, including the C-suite.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works effectively across marketing and the broader enterprise to align research to business needs.
- Vendor Management: Experience managing research vendors, panels, and budgets.
- Team Leadership: Leads and develops a small team of research or insights professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Market Research, Statistics, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in consumer/market research, insights, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience designing and fielding both primary (qualitative and quantitative) and secondary research, plus building customer segmentation.
- Experience using AI tools and/or modern research technology to accelerate insight generation.
- Demonstrated experience presenting to and influencing senior executive audiences, including the C-suite.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree in market research, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience in financial services, fintech, or auto finance / subprime lending.
- Experience managing research panels, vendors, or a research operations function.
- Experience partnering with data/analytics teams on data platforms (e.g., CDP).
Targeted Compensation
- $170,000 - $199,500 base salary + an annual bonus plan.
