The Senior Manager, Mobile Engineering leads the teams responsible for Expedia's native iOS and Android platforms, providing both technical and people leadership across mobile engineering. The role is accountable for engineering execution, platform strategy, operational excellence, and talent development, ensuring teams deliver reliable, scalable, and high-quality mobile experiences. Working closely with Product, Design, Architecture, Security, Quality, and Operations partners, this leader will help shape the future of Expedia's mobile ecosystem, driving engineering best practices, modern mobile architecture, release readiness, observability, and the effective adoption of AI-enabled development capabilities.
The team plays a critical role in delivering seamless customer experiences while enabling the business to bring new products and features to market quickly and safely. Current priorities include evolving the next generation of mobile platform architecture, improving app performance and release quality, strengthening observability and operational resilience, and reducing the risk of customer-impacting issues in production. This is an opportunity to lead a highly experienced team and influence technical strategy across a business-critical platform, with direct impact on customer satisfaction, engineering velocity, and Expedia's mobile growth.
In this role, you will:
- Lead mobile engineering teams delivering reliable, scalable native applications and shared mobile platform capabilities across multiple product domains.
- Set technical direction for mobile architecture, including system design, low-level design, API design, data modeling, integration patterns, and maintainable implementation practices across iOS and Android.
- Build and develop a high-performing, distributed engineering organization through hiring, performance management, mentoring, career development, skill planning, and clear alignment to customer and business outcomes.
- Partner with Product, Design, Architecture, Quality, Operations, App Release, Security, and business teams to shape roadmaps, manage dependencies, and deliver measurable product and platform outcomes.
- Establish predictable release and operational practices across the App Store and Google Play, improving software quality, observability, release safety, incident response, performance, accessibility, and customer-impacting reliability.
- Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve engineering and product outcomes, applying AI-driven tools and workflows appropriately within mobile experiences and engineering platforms.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
