The Role
This role is a senior point of contact within Europe Risk for wholesale exposures across NBFIs - including insurers, brokers and CCPs - plus structured products including securitisations. You’ll approve and recommend credit limits within your Personal Approval Authority where applicable, safeguarding the bank’s capital and reputation while supporting growth aspirations. The role sits in Wholesale Credit and Market Risk Europe and requires deep knowledge of credit policy across HCIB and the wider HSBC Group. You’ll bring strong expertise in derivatives and counterparty risk including risk mitigation and documentation such as collateralisation and clearing. Success looks like well-judged, policy-aligned risk decisions, clear sector views that shape appetite and a stronger risk profile across Global Banking & Markets and CMB. You’ll also help improve the efficiency and timeliness of credit approval outcomes through effective engagement with front office and risk partners.
What you'll be doing
- Act as a senior point of contact within Europe Risk for wholesale exposures across NBFIs and structured products including securitisations
- Approve and recommend credit limits within Personal Approval Authority where applicable, protecting capital and reputation while supporting growth aspirations
- Apply credit policy, objectives and priorities across HCIB and the HSBC Group to credit decisions and recommendations
- Provide specialist oversight of derivatives and counterparty risk including documentation and mitigation such as collateralisation and clearing
- Contribute to Group appetite discussions, setting out Europe Risk views and recommendations on NBFIs and structured products in the region
- Keep Group and Regional Risk teams informed on changes in the economic, business and regulatory environment affecting these sectors
- Provide specialist input to global credit risk models for relevant sectors including PD, LGD and EAD models and capital treatment for securitisation
- Set and implement lending and credit guidelines aligned to Global Standards, risk strategy and appetite across Global Banking & Markets and CMB

What we're looking for
- Bring substantial experience making credit decisions for wholesale exposures within a regulated banking environment
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of NBFIs including insurers, brokers and CCPs and structured products including securitisations
- Apply thorough understanding of HCIB and Group credit policy, objectives and priorities to complex approvals and recommendations
- Demonstrate deep expertise in derivatives and counterparty risk including collateralisation, clearing and related documentation and mitigation
- Show proven capability shaping risk appetite views and recommendations across regional and Group stakeholders
- Provide established expertise contributing to credit risk modelling inputs including PD, LGD and EAD and securitisation capital treatment
- Partner effectively with Sales, Trading and Relationship teams to improve credit approval efficiency and turnaround times
- Collaborate across Risk, Group WCRM, Legal and Collateral Management on credit proposals and broader wholesale risk matters

Strengthening Wholesale Credit Decisions
This is an opportunity to shape how HSBC assesses and approves risk across NBFIs and structured products in Europe. The role brings real influence - from individual credit decisions to sector views that inform appetite discussions and risk strategy. You’ll work closely with front office teams and key control partners to improve both risk outcomes and the effectiveness of credit processes.
