The role
The objective of the role is to provide inspirational leadership across the Manufacturing Team, ensuring operations align with company objectives, policies, and the business plan. The role is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance across all manufacturing activities, overseeing the manufacture of commercial and clinical pharmaceutical products in Unit 24 to agreed procedures and methods, and providing technical advice and support for manufacturing-related capital expenditure.
This is an on-site role.
Accountable for Overall Area Performance
- Works closely with the QA/QC department on all levels within the organisation to ensure products are manufactured to the required GMPs and appropriate regulatory bodies.
- Authority for expenditure as defined in the Purchasing Authority Levels document.
- To undertake such tasks and to manage specific internal or ad hoc projects as and when required to meet department and business needs and within the scope of the job-holder’s capabilities and responsibilities.
- To provide inspirational leadership to the Manufacturing team.
- To support the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products to agreed timelines and quality standards.
- To assist the Project Management and Business Development departments in producing detailed and accurate project costing.
- To manage team performance and absence standards including coaching, counselling and disciplinary measures as required.
- To conduct performance appraisals, set targets/objectives for the operations team and individual team members.
- To manage the training requirements within the group to ensure regulatory compliance and business needs are met.
- To identify self-development needs. In conjunction with HR, develop training plans and budgets.
- To manage the manufacturing group to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects in accordance with GMP and contractual requirements.
- In conjunction with Project Management and technical support review manufacturing job cards for release in accordance with GMP and contractual requirements.
- In conjunction with the Site Services Manager ensure that the provision and maintenance of the facility’s plant and equipment are adequate to meet the requirements of the business and regulatory requirement.
- To devise, review, implement and manage systems with the group including communication and information management.
- To manage specific projects as and when required within the scope of the job-holder’s capabilities and responsibilities.
- To keep abreast of technical innovations/developments within the industry as to ensure that PCI’s service offerings remain competitive in the marketplace.
- Ensure that all staff within the area of responsibility comply with PCI’s Environmental Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- To ensure department budgets are controlled and targets met.
- To promote all departmental CI projects and initiatives.
- To support PM/TT and planning to ensure correct processes and achievable plans are generated and subsequently executed.
- To attend client, kick off and escalation calls and host client visits to the area.
- To identify and deliver cost savings opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- To ensure a safe working environment for your team and the wider site.
- To provide technical support for client queries.
