Job Summary:
EY works with the world’s largest Private Equity funds supporting them to acquire, transform and sell assets. EY’s Private Equity sector has revenues of £500 million in the UK (£1 billion globally) with significant forecasted growth each year for the next 3 years.
A number of our largest UK headquartered PE groups (e.g. CVC, Apax, Premira, Bridgepoint, Cinven) are required to adhere to SEC and other Independence restrictions. This in turn requires EY to protect the firm through proactive monitoring and managing all proposed engagements and business relationships across all service lines (SaT, Tax, Assurance and Advisory) with those PE groups (including at all portfolio entities controlled by the PE group worldwide) to ensure that we comply with all SEC/EU/UK and EY independence requirements. Channel 1 account teams in Assurance are required to undertake similar independence monitoring activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
