Job Title: Senior Project Manager - Finance

Location: Bristol or York

Length of Contract: 6 Months

Salary: Up to £70k PA

Overview

This Senior Project Manager role will lead the business case development for potential “with-profits” simplification within a major UK life insurance entity. The position involves coordinating the assessment of strategic, financial, regulatory, operational, customer, capital, and technology implications to deliver a robust recommendation for Executive and Board consideration. This project is intended to support a multi-year program of work aimed at designing and implementing the simplification initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the business case development for with-profits simplification.
  • Coordinate the assessment of strategic, financial, regulatory, operational, customer, capital, and technology implications.
  • Develop a robust recommendation and business case for presentation to the Executive team and Board.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive project plans, including management of scope, budget, and resources.
  • Proactively manage RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies) to ensure project stability.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate governance and controls throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure transparent and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration across cross-functional teams to deliver agreed outcomes.

Essential Skills & Experience Required

  • Hold a relevant project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, or PMI) or possess equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience delivering change projects within Finance environment or equivalent regulated environment.
  • Experience with With Profits funds and financial management.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to produce clear status reporting and facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining comprehensive project plans.
  • Proven competence in managing scope, budget, resources, and RAID.
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate governance and controls throughout the project lifecycle.
