Senior Manager – Manchester Business Restructuring
I'm recruiting on behalf of a well established UK accountancy and business advisory firm that wants to add a Senior Manager to its Manchester Business Restructuring team. The work is advisory led, with Independent Business Reviews at the heart of it, so it will suit someone who already does this kind of work and would like it to be their main focus rather than something shared with formal insolvency.
The team advises companies, lenders, investors and other stakeholders when a business is under financial pressure. You'll be working on things like:
- Independent Business Reviews
- Refinancing and turnaround advisory
- Short term cash flow and options reviews
- Contingency planning
- Special Situations M&A

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You'll be working closely with senior colleagues and take day to day responsibility for a range of assignments, leading workstreams on the larger and more complex jobs. You'll look after client and stakeholder relationships, manage and develop junior team members, and own planning, financials, quality and delivery. You'll also write the first drafts of IBRs and other reports, and part of the job is questioning the numbers you're given rather than taking them at face value. Business development is part of the role too, so there'll be proposals, pitches and building your own network in the market.
It's a collaborative team with a good mix of work, and people get the chance to lead early. The firm backs career development with proper mentoring and coaching, and works flexibly, with teams meeting in the office when it matters. Salary and benefits are competitive [to be added].
