About the role

Reckitt is seeking a Senior Manager Scientific Communications who will provide strategic leadership for scientific communications across Medical Science, ensuring the effective translation of scientific evidence into clear, credible, and impactful communications that strengthen scientific credibility, support evidence dissemination, and enable informed decision-making. The role acts as the accountable scientific communications lead, driving excellence, compliance, and innovation in how medical and scientific information is communicated to internal and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver scientific communications strategies that support Medical Science priorities, evidence-generation plans, and business objectives. Provide expert guidance on the communication of scientific evidence and ensure the effective translation of complex science into clear, credible and impactful scientific narratives.
  • Lead the development and oversight of high-quality scientific communication materials, including publications, across a range of internal and external audiences. Ensure all content accurately reflects the scientific evidence base, maintains scientific integrity, and meets agreed quality and compliance standards. Provide expertise in scientific writing, content development, and storytelling to maximise the impact and accessibility of scientific information.
  • Lead the planning and execution of scientific dissemination and publication strategies to maximise the visibility, reach and impact of scientific evidence. Ensure communication activities support awareness, education, and engagement objectives whilst strengthening the credibility and reputation of Medical Science.
  • Strengthen the scientific reputation and credibility of Reckitt through high-quality evidence communication and external scientific engagement.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging communication approaches and best practices to continuously improve dissemination effectiveness.
  • Act as a trusted scientific communications partner across Medical Affairs, R&D, Regulatory, Commercial, Legal, Corporate Affairs and other relevant functions. Build strong partnerships and provide expert guidance on scientific messaging, evidence communication, and stakeholder engagement strategies to support informed decision-making and aligned delivery.
  • Maintain accountability for the quality, consistency, and compliance of scientific communication activities and outputs. Ensure all communications are developed and delivered in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, governance processes, and industry standards. Drive continuous improvement in scientific communications processes, tools, and ways of working.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with external experts, professional organisations, academic institutions, and scientific partners.
  • Manage external partners and agencies to ensure delivery of high-quality scientific communications aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Support external scientific engagement activities and represent Medical Science communications capabilities where appropriate to strengthen organisational credibility and scientific reputation.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to colleagues and team members, building capability in scientific communications, medical writing, evidence translation, and stakeholder engagement. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Healthcare Communications, or a related scientific discipline. Advanced qualification (e.g. MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD) preferred.
  • Significant experience within Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, Medical Communications, Medical Writing, or a related healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering scientific communication strategies within a highly regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to translate complex scientific and clinical evidence into clear, credible and impactful communications for diverse audiences.
  • Strong understanding of evidence generation, scientific publication practices, healthcare regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and working effectively within complex cross-functional and matrix organisations.
  • Track record of leading scientific communication projects, programmes, external partners, and/or matrix teams to successful outcomes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate scientific information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
