About the Role
A leading organisation in London is seeking a Senior Manager - Transaction Services to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their transactional finance operations. This newly created position offers you the opportunity to lead and nurture both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams, uniting them into a cohesive and high-performing transactional services function.
This is a key new role responsible for bringing together Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams into a unified transactional services function, offering you the chance to shape processes and drive performance improvements across the business.
As Senior Manager - Transaction Services based in London, you will be at the heart of transforming transnational finance operations. Your daily responsibilities will centre around leading two critical teams, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, guiding them through change as they merge into one cohesive unit. You will set clear goals for your team members while nurturing their growth through mentoring and coaching. Operational excellence will be achieved by overseeing all AP/AR activities with precision; from ensuring accurate processing to maintaining compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Develop Teams: Lead and develop the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams comprising 14 full-time employees including four direct reports and some offshore resources, setting clear objectives while providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching.
- Operational Excellence: Take ownership of day-to-day delivery of AP and AR processes by ensuring accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and maintaining a strong internal/external customer experience.
- Performance Improvement: Drive cash and working capital performance through improved billing discipline, reduced dispute cycle times, and enhanced collections effectiveness.
- Reporting and Analysis: Manage the operational finance KPI suite and reporting cadence by delivering clear dashboards, packs, and actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilise KPI insight and root-cause analysis to prioritise and implement continuous improvement initiatives such as standardisation, automation, and control enhancements.
- Controls and Audit Readiness: Ensure robust controls and audit readiness across AP/AR functions including segregation of duties, approvals, reconciliations, exception management, and documentation.
- Escalation and Communication: Act as escalation point for complex supplier, customer, process, or systems issues by ensuring timely resolution and effective communication.
- Collaboration: Partner with Procurement teams, budget holders, asset management groups, and operational departments to improve internal customer service delivery.
- Systems and Automation: Collaborate with IT teams particularly on system usage improvements through programmes like Yardi Improvement to enhance automation within finance operations.
- Additional Tasks: Perform additional finance tasks as required to support the wider team's objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
